The Hollywood Entertainment Museumıs Hollywood Boulevard location is the perfect site for a museum that celebrates the motion picture and television arts.
Housed on the ground floor of the Hollywood Galaxy mall, the museum boasts a healthy alliance with Paramount Pictures that has resulted in the studio donating a huge amount of memorabilia from its 'Star Trek' franchise. Among the museumıs artifacts that are sure to please any Trekkie, are a real Borg from the feature film 'Star Trek: First Contact,' resting in its own Borg alcove, as well as alien masks and Klingon statues from TV series 'Deep Space Nine.' Thereıs even a transporter room, where visitors can watch themselves get 'beamed down.'
Interactive exhibits designed to teach visitors the nuances of recording sound effects, editing film, and assembling authentic-looking props, are a permanent fixture of the museum, which was founded in 1996.
The museumıs lobby features an impressive miniature model of Hollywood, circa 1945, which depicts 45 of the cityıs blocks, complete with working streetlights and lighted signs. 'Telephone' booths also operate in the lobby, where visitors can pick up a receiver and hear Hollywood directors such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg discussing their craft.
The Hollywood Entertainment Museum also features rotating shows that have recently included a Salute to Latino Hollywood, and an exhibit of 62 photographs from the Universal Studios archives.
Every 30 minutes, guided tours are available with admission. Group tours and workshops are available to the public.
