For anyone with a taste for the strange, the quirky, or even the slightly cheesy things in life, or for anyone who's just plain curious, this trio definitely has what you crave. Forget high art or sophisticated culture -- these Museums' strengths lie in their ability to entertain and amuse. All you need are a couple of hours, a good pair of shoes, and a sense of curiosity.
The Hollywood Wax Museum, the Guinness World Record Museum, and Ripley's Believe it or Not! Museum are only steps away from each other, on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Though this section of Hollywood Boulevard has become rather shabby, efforts are slowly creeping east on this street to revitalize this area. Parking is a bit difficult to find around the busy Hollywood/ Highland intersection, but there are some paid parking lots and quieter streets not too far away.
The Hollywood Wax Museum exhibits over 200 wax figures of celebrities, historical figures, and movie characters. Some of the figures are quite realistic, while others are virtually unrecognizable. There is an eeriness in the air due to the hundreds of pairs of glass eyes staring out at you, a mood that enhances the spookiness of the Wax Museum's Chamber of Horrors.
